Action Requested: We request AASL create a digital badge indicating participation in advocacy efforts related to school library legislative issues. Such a badge could be used by individuals and affiliate organizations in email signatures,
Status: Both the Affiliate Assembly Coordinating Team and the Affiliate Assembly body approved this concern. It was sent to the AASL Board. Executive Committee referred to AASL staff to investigate costs, protocol, and the impact of badges in use by other divisions for background information provided for future Executive Committee agenda item.
for our students and the profession. We received great information from
both the ALA Washington Office and AASL. Region IV wants to see more
efforts such as this one with information being disseminated all the way
down to the building level librarian.
Action Requested: We request AASL create a digital badge indicating participation in advocacy efforts related to school library legislative issues. Such a badge could be used by individuals and affiliate organizations in email signatures,
as well as on affiliate organization websites.
We believe the display of such a badge could encourage and promote
participation in further efforts requiring advocacy for school libraries and
librarians.
