Concern: Communication from ALA and AASL is inconsistent. Information comes from many resources, but important information isn’t always shared. One example is the recent election. Lack of participation in ALA and AASL elections is an ongoing concern. While many messages are sent soliciting votes from members, if members didn’t receive the initial email, they never received the link again. Then the results of the elections were not well communicated. The election results are on the AASL website, but their presence is not well-promoted, and no formal announcement was sent via AASLforum or ALA Connect.
Action: The Affiliate Executive Committee did not approve this concern for submission to the Affiliate Assembly body.

Association Voter Turnout
Concern: Despite efforts made in 2005 to encourage members of AASL to exercise their voting rights, low voter turnout by AASL members in ALA elections continues to be an issue.
Action: Both the Affiliate Executive Committee and the Affiliate Assembly body passed this concern. The AASL Board of Directors responded with the creation and implementation of the 'Get Out the Vote' campaign.
