Concern: Assistance to Affiliates in reaching out to parent and community organizations that can help advocate for school libraries.
Action: Both the Affiliate Executive Committee and the Affiliate Assembly body passed this concern. The AASL Board of Directors responded with the creation of the Parent Outreach Task Force charged with: creating online toolkits to encourage parent and community groups to advocate for school library media programs on both the local and national level and should address the following issues:
- To encourage endorsement of school library legislative initiatives.
- To provide strategies for support of school library media programs.
- To point to existing resources and organizations.
