Concern: State Departments of Education need to have free access to digital copies of “Empowering Learners: Guidelines for School Library Programs.” Work is being developed around Common Core and Race to the Top initiatives that require citations and sometimes quotes from AASL documents. Access is only being provided to licensees, etc. This would seem like a natural extension of the work that NASTEMP and other organizations are doing in their promotion and support of L4L initiatives.
Action: The Affiliate Executive Committee did not approve this concern for submission to the Affiliate Assembly body.
