Use of eBooks in School Libraries

Concern: There is an increasing interest in using e-books in schools. School librarians are unable to find credible/authoritative guidance regarding the legal purchase and legal use of e-books and e-readers in the school environment.

Action: Both the Affiliate Assembly Executive Committee and the Affiliate Assembly body approved this concern. It was sent to the AASL Board.

Action: ALA President Molly Raphael has created a Digital Content and Libraries Working Group of which AASL member Christopher Harris is a member. AASL President Carl Harvey will solicit names of AASL members to make recommendations for the working group and subgroups to be formed.
